Leading Wholesale Brokerage firm specializing in Admitted and E&S Property Casualty looking for experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter.
Candidates must be capable of generating new business opportunities and seek to grow and create different opportunities within the agency.
The ideal candidate will be established in the industry and be a proven self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to build relationships.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Handle small business to middle market accounts
- Within delegated authority levels and company guidelines, accepts, rejects new business and creatively use the carrier resources to create opportunities for all commercial lines to ensure a profitable commercial book of business.
- Rates, debit or credit business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines within individual underwriting authority limits to price competitively but not exceedingly to ensure the account is profitable for the agency and represented carriers.
- Develops on-going relationships with agents, monitor profitability and quality of submissions along with the marketing team to keep agents up-to-date with underwriting and/or product changes, efficiently and profitably.
- Understand broad spectrum of commercial lines business not limited to GL, Property, Management Liability, WC and Excess/Umbrella.
- Examines and property documents, underwriting documents such as application forms, inspection reports, insurance maps and past claims, business operations, loss experience, and property valuation, etc.
- Determines whether to accept, modify, or decline risks.
- Ability to property evaluate a risk to consider proper limits, retention, perils and valuations.
Qualifications and Skills
Must have at least 3 years experience in Commercial Property and Casualty lines within both Admitted and Non-Admitted basis with excellent understanding of coverage.
Must have had Commercial Property and Casualty License for at least 3 years.
Have excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
